Below, you will find a few words of welcome from FILLM President, Margaret Higonnet as well as a brief introduction to the ChLA. For more detailed information about the ChLA, we strongly recommend that you pay their website a visit. You can also follow the ChLA on Facebook. The ChLA will be represented on the FILLM Committee by Dr Lucy Pearson (University of Newcastle). Words of Welcome from FILLM President, Margaret Higonnet "Welcome to the Children’s Literature Association as a new member of FILLM! Founded in 1972 , the Children’s Literature Association is an international body with members from thirty-nine countries, committed to comparative scholarship in the field of literature for or adopted by children. It supports research and professional advancement of researchers, teachers, and students at every level from grade school to graduate school. Members include librarians, writers, and illustrators as well as critics and teachers. It publishes two journals, the annual Children’s Literature and the Children’s Literature Association Quarterly, and publishes a book series as well. In addition to its annual meetings, the association presents panels at the meetings of the Modern Language Association. We hope that members of the Children’s Literature Association will be drawn to the Triennal Congresses of FILLM, the next of which will be held in Vienna in 2020, and will find exchanges with our sister societies fruitful. We encourage members also to submit their work to the book series, FILLM Studies in Languages and Literatures, published by Benjamins. Lucy Pearson will represent the Children’s Literature Association on the FILLM Committee. We look forward to our cooperation. Once again, a heartfelt welcome." Sincerely, Margaret R.
