Recent News News Archive | New FILLM Committee 2017-2020![]() At the FILLM Congress in Delhi, India last week, the federation elected its new Committee. The Committee will sit for a three-year period, until the next FILLM Congress in Vienna, Austria in 2020. The new Committee consists mainly of people who also served during the previous term, but a few new faces have also come in. For the next three years, FILLM will be headed by former Vice-President Margaret R. Higonnet (University of Connecticut, US). She replaces Meenakshi Bharat (University of Delhi, India) as President of the Federation. To reward Ms Bharat for the excellent work she has done for FILLM in the past and to ensure her further involvement, it was decided on recommendation from the Nominating Committee to appoint Ms Bharat "Assistant Officer for the Indian Sub-Continent" for the next three years. Li Cao (Tsinghua University, China) continues as Vice-President and she is joined in that role by Adams Bodomo (University of Vienna, Austria) who is organising the next FILLM Congress (2020). Tom Clark (Victoria University, Australia), Leena Eilittä (University of Helsinki, Finland) and Adam Borch (Åbo Akademi University, Finland) all remain in their posts as, respectively, Secretary-General, Treasurer and Communications Officer. Haun Saussy (University of Chicago, USA), Antoinette Tidjani Alou (Université Abdou Moumouni, Niger) and Liliana Sikorska (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland) all continue their involvement with FILLM by staying on as Assistant Secretaries-General. They are joined in that role by Liliane Louvel (Poitiers University, France), Chen Rudong (Peking University, China), Edda Weigand (University of Münster, Germany) and Petra Broomans (University of Groningen, Netherlands). Leaving the FILLM Committee are Sonia Faessel (Université de la Nouvelle-Calédonie, New Caledonia) and Shin-ichi Morimoto (Showa Women's University, Japan). The federation would like to thank both for the hard work they have done on behalf of FILLM. Finally, FILLM would also like to thank the Nominating Committee for their work in putting forward candidates for the new FILLM Committee. The Nominating Committee was chaired by Roger D. Sell (Åbo Akademi University, Finland). Further members were: Anders Pettersson (University of Umeå, Sweden) and Laurent Tissot (Université de Neuchâtel, Switzerland).
